Thank you for all that came to our cupcake class. A very special thank you to Kris Wall from Mona 1st ward that shared her special tips and ideas for decorating and filling and making a simple cupcake into something that everyone will be asking, "how did you do that."

She starts out with just making normal cupcakes. You can use a cake mix or make cupcakes from scratch. After they come our of the oven and cool, she then puts a filling in them. She does this by using a icing bag with a big tip on the end. She just inserts it into the top/center of the cupcake and squirts some in.

Filling:

1 small package of instant pudding. There are many different kinds to choose from.
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 cup milk

you mix these ingredients together and then add

8 oz of cool whip

Let this sit a couple of minutes and then go ahead and use.

There are many different butter cream frosting recipes, but this is the one that she uses.

Frosting

2 sticks of butter-- whip this 3-5 minutes
then add
1/2 cup milk
6-8 cups powdered sugar. Depends on the day and the consistency that you want
1 tsp vanilla

This is then ready to be used. You can go ahead and decorate by hand or put in icing bags and decorate with tips.

For chocolate icing:

10 oz semi sweet chocolate
melt the chocolate and let sit for about 10 minutes
then add to the butter that has been whipped for 3-5 minutes
continue on with rest of the recipe

She made a chocolate cupcake and filled it with a cherry chocolate pudding with chopped up maraschino cherries and cherry extract. She then decorated it with chocolate icing and had a maraschino cherry dipped in chocolate on top. Very elegant looking and very good!

She made cute flowers by cutting marshmallows. She has learned alot by just experimenting and having fun trying different things. Good luck and have fun.
